X1900XT output malfunction? Please help!

I have the Connect 3D ATI X1900XT video card and recently I moved to another state and I had my computer shipped with the movers. Well when I got it the video card was not in the PCI-e slot. It was still attached to the case due to the screws that hold it in place but it came out of the motherboard. Well I put it back in place and found that the video output on both channels is distorted (see pics below). I looked the motherboard and video card over and I cannot find any physical damage. I returned the video and CPU back to stock clock speeds and voltages but that had no effect on the video output.

I jiggled the video card around in the PCI-e slot to see if maybe it was a loose connection but that didn’t do anything. I tried a different monitor and the output is still the same.

Any ideas?

It displays before boot, so it cannot be a driver/software issue.. While the video card was banging around in there, it could've damaged itself or just possibly the motherboard, the PCI-e bus or otherwise. If you can test using the onboard video on the motherboard (if your Mobo has it) or another vid card, it'll narrow down what's to blame, though it most likely the video card.

Can video cards be repaired or are they generaly not worth the money to send it in?

SEND IT IN!

I've had damaged cards, i've sent them in and they usually send you the same one or better back with overnight express mail(ATI did this for me)

Its worth sending it in, all you have to do is pay the shipping, which should be around 14 dollars.

My X850XT did the same thing, and i still havn't figured out why, but i believe its worth sending it in...or its time for a new upgrade.

^ The damage to OP's card is not covered under warranty, it would be considered abuse. It's true that the manufacture might not be able to find that out if you claim otherwise, and that the warranty itself depends on the the manufactures policy, butWe don't even know if it's still active.. But if it is, give it a shot. Tell them it just crapped out on you..
