hey guys after having much troubles with Nvidia cards. i have decided to switch back to ATI. i am thinking about these cards. so which one would you guys prefer more? which one of you guys would suggest me to get? i have no budget problem

i already have a 8800GTS. right now i am having this screen brightness problem. my screen is so bright it hurts my eyes. and yes i tried everything to turn it down but it just doesn't work. although , ATI cards are way slower, more power hungry but i have never have any single problem with them

Sorry I wasn't much help with the brightness problem.. but the HD 2900xt is a pretty good card. It is Dx10 capable which will maximize the life of the card.

the only reason i am considering x1950xtx because it is as fast as hd 2900 possibly faster and i wanted to wait for ATi to come up with a new card or atleast improve the HD 2900 first. so what you guys think?

The x2900 will be my next upgrade, probably not for a little while, unless they release some newer ones within 6 months..

Th Hd 2900xt is much better than the 1950xtx.

As to ATI releasing something better, I dunno. They could release a better card in the next couple of months or they could wait another year. I would just buy the 2900 now because if the screen is as bright as you say it is then it would drive me crazy..

a screen brightness problem? what?

the graphics card has nothing to do with how bright your screen is.

actually it does. for some reason my monitor always have brightness issues with nvidia mid - high end cards. i have mag innovation LCD 19

The graphics card renders the screen. So there is a possibility that it or the drivers are F*cked. The monitor itself is the more likely suspect, If you have any ideas then spit em out. :P

i dont think you have a 8800gts, they are a popular brand and i read tons of revies on both ati and nvidia 8800 and 2900 series and out of either of the 8800 no 1 complained about britness, a thing you could do is 1, redownload the drivers, and 2, if u really think it is because of nvidia, then use ur warenty and call the manufactur, i had both ati and nvidia cards, and on the gaming side i get less lag with higher settings using nvidia and there is usually an option on the screen to adjust the britness, and if it happened with the 8800gts, since it is mostly uncommon, ur screen could of just got fed up from who knows and you might experience the same problem with a ati card,

did you try reinstalling the drivers, and do u have a spare ati card
i dont see the 8800 in ur rig and you have a sli board, want more preformance get another 8800, 2xati 2900= a expensive powersupply and high electrice bill, so y bye another x2900 when you can send it in and get a new one or so on and use that money for a sli setup?
