wich one is actually the better "all-around" prosessor?
i mean,.. not specificly for gaming, or multitasking. but, well.. just all-around :D

i would say the x2, especially for future games and programs when a majority of them are multi-threaded.

the fx series will remain amds gaming chip for now and the future, remember they only ever produce 1 fx chip model at a time, so as a series they will always be better.

Well all round is prob the still the fx

wat is so special about the fx that makes it so good? I understand about the other amd's, but why is this one so above the rest.

i wonder that also... isnt it pretty much just an upgraded version of the AMD 64 XXXX+ models except it has a higher clock speed?

The multipliers are unlocked in an FX, which is a nice touch not found in the xxxx+ series or the X2 I believe.

im sure he didnt... the x2 would also be great in games when games take full advatange of multiple processors (take xbox360 for instance, each processor will have its own task, instaed of 1 cpu doing all of the work)

yea... but i wont buy the xbox 360 untill halo3 is released :)

anyway, i would say a x2 would be better. what do yo think will be beter when starting overclocking te 4400+ to a 4800+? (my cooler should be able to handle that)

unlocked multis means nothing to me. i'd rather have locked multi and some kickass RAM, then get an FX cuz my RAM sucks and i need to up the multi to overclock.

personally i'd go with the X2's. not saying they are better now, but despite what is better, i'd still go with the X2.

Yeah, one major thing I overlooked in my PC when buying it. I got 1GB of RAM for really cheap and I can tell.

The X2 by a long shot

Not better overall bud.

Care to explain? :)

It's got unlocked multiplier ... something 90% of FX owners dont really make use of anyways lol

They are fully unlocked on FX, other Athlon64x are up-locked

Did you read anything besides the title?
No

Considering the X2-4400 is the dualcore equivalent of something that would be called a "San Diego 3500" anyone who thinks there's a realworld difference in gaming between a "San Diego 3500" and "FX57" hasnt really thought it through.

You can pull of a crapload more than 200MHz OC bud even on stock cooling :)

Haha yep .. thats the pain of having the memory controller tied to your CPU :P Cant cheap out on RAM so easily anymore (well you can but that would be dumb)

How long do you reckon it will be before the games are mostly multithreaded??

and if the FX is going to be AMDs gaming processor, will it eventually have a dual core edition to go with the multithreading games?

the response to the 4400+ is overwhelming. It sounds like a monster of a processor, so much so that I am thinking of getting that for my new system instead of the pentium I had picked out. One thing I am planning on doing is making a home studio, and I talked to a couple friends I have that own big studios and they said they just built machines with this processor and they said it works like a dream. I also have a friend that has a very good video editing station and he is in love with it as well.
