G1.Sniper Z170 motherboard from Gigabyte
i7 6700K
2T HDD Boot Drive
3T HDD internal data drive
3T External Data Drive

No SSD? I feel like modern operating systems are not designed to run on a hard drive, given how slow it makes everything.

Debatable, it's always been a huge/vast difference in performance. Going forward from HDD to SSD initially is like 'hmm this is kinda better' but going back is like 'HORY SHET what's wrong with this computer'. Even in 2010.

That's probably just Optane, you should be able to use whatever other sizing of NAND or similar module for storage, I have a 128G M.2 SATA drive on a Z97 board and i5 4570 which is older than yours

Windows 10 runs like garbage on traditional HDD's. Even when it's a fresh install.
