x600 Pro capabilities?

i wanna buy the saphire x600 Pro cause its only $88. I'm wondering if it could play HL2 on highest settings with no lag? it would be paired with 1 gig of ram and either an AMD 3500+ Venice 2.2 GHz or intel P4 Prescott 3.4 GHz (depending on what i decide to buy.) anyway heres the card:

the reviews say it plays HL2 and Doom 3 at highest settings, but i dunno how stable it will be. please comment.
 
I might be able to play HL2 at highest settings, the game runs well on ATI cards. However, I highly, highly doubt it will run Doom 3 at the highest settings. This game runs much better on nVidia cards. I know a guy who has an X800 Pro, and at highest settings he only gets 12 fps.

As you see if you playing at 1280X1024 max quility with 4xAA and 8X AF with a x600pro 256MB you only getting 18fps which most likly equal LAG.

So it depends on what your definition of max settings. If you mean max quility on 1024X756 with no AA and AF then yes you can play it. If you mean 1600X1200 max quility and 16XAA and 8XAF then there no way a x600 pro going to play it.

alright well the x700 only has 100 MHz more memory clock, so it shouldnt be that much different than the x600 right? especially if i overclock it. on the charts, though, the x700 has 20 more FPS.... i dont understand how 100 MHz can make that much difference. than again, ive never really put together a computer. as far as price though, wouldnt the x600 pro be a better buy?

What that comparison dont show is that the x600 pro only has 4 pixel pipelines and the geforce 6800 has 12 pixel pipelines. This makes a HUGE difference in performance. core speed really does not mean much. The 6800 is a MUCH MUCH better card then x600.

Yes but 6800NU and x600 are two different classes of cards :)
