X800XL troubles

My Saphire Radeon X800XL won't start up if I turn on my computer if it has been off for a while. The PC boots up fine but the monitor stays blank. I know it's booting because the hard drive is busy and my LCD screen on my drive bay starts up when the program is launched.

In order to get it working, I first need to turn on the computer.. then turn it off after a few seconds, then turn it back on and then the video card will work. Any idea what is causing this?

I have cleaned the contacts and the video card but it is still doing it. The video card is completely healthy according to tests and temps and load temps only reach 43C while idle temp is 34C. (Has a Zalman VF-700CU cooler). Computer will run perfectly being left on for days...

Any ideas?
Thanks :)

they will take it back, just return the cooler to its card, lol.... make it look like you didnt do anything.... thats what EVGA told me to do

Don't know if that's possible... mainly because of the ram heatsinks. It has thermal adhesive on it... they won't come off without leaving evidence... I still have the cooler plus some of the wax where the gpu was.

they arent going to get all pissy at you cause you put an aftermarket cooler on it, they just want the original one back

Artic may make the best CPU adhesive (silver 5) and they also make one of the best adhesive REMOVERS that i have ever ued. Just buy some (or another brand) and there will be not evidence of the adhesive left..then you are free to put the stock cooler back on :)
