I know you can use a 360 controller with windows Vista and it acts as a normal controller, but I wanted to know if I can connect a wireless one via bluetooth? and will a 360 controller work with Counter Strike and Team Fortress 2?

You can't connect a wireless one via bluetooth, you have to buy the $20 wireless reciever. I'm not 100% sure if the controller is already set up in CS or TF2 but if it isn't you can use a program like http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ to map the controller for each game.

Nope, you have to purchase the adapter made by microsoft to have the wireless controller work. However, once you do get the wireless adapter I think you can use it in CSS, why you would want to I havnt a clue, but you could.

EDIT: Darn, nh1129 beat me to it! :)

Is it not practical to do this? Or should I just stike with the mouse. I thought maybe it would be easier to play with 360 controller.

It will be easier in games its made for, aka halo2 and other microsoft certified pc games, do to it will slightly auto-aim for you. However in CSS where there is no auto-aim its just too inaccurate to use a controller when a mouse is faster and more accurate.

I have the receiver, and its great. I use it at LAN parties for some games we play.

I dont know how to make the controller move the person in Counter Strike: Source, I can get him to shoot and look around and stuff, but not move. I am sure its possible.

What about with Team Fortress since Orange Box is for 360 too?

From what I understand, only games with the "Games for Windows" banner on the top have controller configs built into the game (not all Games for Windows tho). If I were you I'd just buy a wired controller so you can use it on your computer and if you find out you hate using it on your computer you can use it as an extra controller for your 360 (if you have one)

If I buy from one Wal-Mart I can always return it. The one in my town is freaking dumb and will take anything back as a return. A week ago I returned a Hard Drive to them after I found out a faulty hard drive was not my issue, anyway, I had bought a 320gig and when I returned it, the wrong one was in the box. So I accidentally returned a 60gig hard drive to them in a 320gig box... THEY NEVER OPENED IT! I felt kinda bad, but I already had everything loaded on it before I noticed it was the wrong volume. I worked in retail for 6 years so I count that as wal-marts loss. I learned an important lesson though:

If your ever strapped for cash, take a dump in a box and return it to wal-mart... they'll never know!

So yeah i can always check it out and return it if i hate it.

I can use a standard 360 controller right? I dont have to buy the windows one do I? I know when I had Frets on Fire it worked without any problems using the 360 guitar hero controller.

dirt has a 360 controller map i dont think that has the games for windows banner

So... I can use this 360 controller that I have to play Halo in my PC, right?

Do I need to do anything other than plugging it to the USB port?
My comp should recognize it right away, correct?
I don't need it to be wireless (wired is fine)

Thanks for the help. :)

I believe the wired version will work as is, but for the wireles one you need to get the one thats dor computers because it has the IR reciever with it. If thats the plain xbox one it wont work.

How about the one in the link? Is it considered wired or wireless? :D :D
Sorry for the noob question because I figure I can connect that cable to charge it while playing so I thought that controller is wired. :P

The charge kit will only charge the controller, not act as a connection. Just by a wired one, cheaper and it will work!

That controller is wireless, so you'll still have to buy the $20 MS adapter. The controller still runs on RF while its plugged in.

Ok, thank you everyone for the help. :)
I am going to get the wireless receiver since I already have 4 wireless controllers.
Don't want to spend money for another controller just for my PC.
