Hi,

Would anyone be able to let me know which is the best cable / lead to use for connecting the Xbox 360 to the HD TV and obtaining the best picture.

My guess would be an HDMI cable. It allows a person to access full 1080 with a tv if both the game and the TV are able to reach 1080p resolution.

I bought a vga - hd cable and thought that might be the right one.

I'll have a look for the full hdmi one.
 
You're welcome. Also be sure that you're buying the right size of HDMI cable. I've seen some gigantic ones that are used for satellite receivers, and those are just too thick of an end to ever fit into the 360.

It shouldn't be hard to get the right one you're looking for. A stop into EB Games or Gamestop with a few questions would likely lead you on the right path to getting one.
 
HD resolution can also be obtained through the standard component (RGB) cable, wich is standard included with the xbox tough.
