hey I was just wondering if anyone could inform me of the best way that they have found or know of to hook up an xbox360 to my pc monitor.

heres my monitor

it has vga and dvi inputs. my pc is currently hooked up to the vga, I want to hook the xbox up to the dvi. I also need a way to play sound. I have a set of pc speakers if there is any way I can use those. I also have the tv of course, and a guitar amp with audio av inputs (idk if those would work lol). I would like to spend less than $10 on any cables/adapters that I need to buy. If anyone needs anymore information, I can do that.

I'm using a PC monitor and PC speakers with my PS3 so I'm guessing it'll probably be the same with your Xbox.

For video you'll need an HDMI to DVI cable.

For audio I assume your Xbox came with a composite cable. With that you'll also need an RCA female to 3.5mm male adapter. Plug in the red and white leads into the 3.5mm adapter and plug that to your speakers.

After messing with cables, it's time to set it up. On the PS3 I can individually select the source of my audio and video. So for video I selected HDMI, for audio it's RCA/Composite.

Hope that helps!

this sounds like it will work perfectly!, thnx. one question though, will they both work if I plug in hdmi and composite into my xbox? wouldn't only one of them be used?

Nope. As long as video source is HDMI and audio source is composite, nothing should go wrong. It works for me. ;)
