I have just installed the latest Microsoft critical security patch. Ever since it was installed my system has experienced major slowdown, with task manager showing Explorer.exe using 99% CPU resources. Uninstalling the patch returns the system to normal.
If this happens to you, you may wish to remove the patch. Be aware though that the patch is listed by Microsoft as critical.
If you don't know how remove it to go to Add, Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Click on Show Updates.
Scroll towards the bottom and the latest patch should be listed with the date you installed it.
Remove it and your system should return to normal after a reboot.
Just thought this might help anyone who experiences the problem, and this is not the first time a critical Microsoft patch has causes this problem.
