XP bug

hi. can you guys help me fix these?

in the first photos, the icons are missing. these are not the only ones, many icons stop showing up or just appear to be an unknown file type (e.g. jpg or zip appear as if they are unknown)

as for the 2nd photo, the blue option bar on the left of the window is missing. how do i get it back?

Get a program like Axialis and restore the icon cache
As for the 2nd pic. right-click My computer -->properties-->Advance (tab) -->Settings (of performance), the tick "use common task in folders"
