yea i lost the XP CD that came with dell. but it has the product key on the side of the computer case still. so it be ok if use my friends xp home edition cd to install but use MY cd key

btw, if when validation comes up, if it gives you crap saying you cant be verified, just call up the number and microsoft should be happy to help you out, thats what my friend and i did
Only consideration is the Drivers, usually Dell provide a separate drivers CD. If you dont have that and after install the OS and drivers are needed. Then you have to either go to their site or contact them for a seperate drivers disk.
