XP help

ok here is the story i have a gateway lab top it top a poop, now i bought a used HP with xp professional on it. When i start the computer is asks me for a user name and passwrod but i don't have one. is there a way to put my old xp system from the gateway on the used xp. i still have the operating system and pin number. how do i get around the password?

You can try using administrator and no password because people forget to change that often.

when i put the disk from the other computer it does nothing

you need to make sure that you have the cd rom drive as the first bootable device in the bios. to get to the bios hit the delete button or f1, or f12 one you boot the computer.

to add to Camper's advice, at the HP sreen, it will telll you what button to push.

Just so you know, it may also be F10
