XP Home help

I have a version of XP home with sp2 and all that installed on my new build and its a copy licensed on another machine in my house... I was just using it as a temp until my version showed up in the mail (which it finally did). The question is can I or how do I change the registration (or cd key) so that I don't have to uninstall and reinstall my OS.

Thanks.

30 days with a unactivated version of Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 32bit SP2. After that, It will prompt you for a Key, and lock down Windows.
You should be fine.

With the new copy of XP Home/SP2 having arrived a fresh install and activation will take care of the whole problem fast. Simply backup any files out of the Windows, DocumentsandSettings, and Program Files directories and allow your copy to delete the temp install and put a fresh copy on. Once you have all drivers/programs reinstalled and running good simply activate Windows then. Problem solved! You shouldn't have much to copy into temp folders at this point to worry about having just installed XP there.
