XP Home Install Error Need Hellp!!!!

I have a HP laptop and I was doing a repair installation of xp home on it and when it get's to the end it comes up with this error message.

"Setup can not set the required Windows XP configuration information. This indicates an internal setup error. Contact your system administrator"

What should I do?

Download a linux live CD (Like SLAX) and boot to that. Copy all the data you need off your HDD onto an external drive and then reload windows (reformat partition and re-install XP)
