XP Home SP1 activation after Oct 10, 2006

I just bought an OEM copy of XP SP1 Home. I can't use SP2 because of software incompatibilities. I'm presently running on eMachines restore discs (eMachines-supplied Norton Ghost images), but I was planning to use the OEM install disc the next time my PC needs a reformat. I've been searching for hours and cannot find any info on whether or not I'll be able to activate this OEM disc after the SP1 end-of-support date of October 10, 2006. Does anyone know about this? Anyone have any links? Any help is appreciated here.

"Does Microsoft use activation to require me to upgrade? Will Microsoft ever stop issuing activation codes for one or more of the products that require activation?

No. Microsoft does not use activation as a tool to require people to upgrade. Activation is only an anti-piracy tool.

Microsoft will also support the activation of Windows XP and will likely provide an update that turns off activation at the end of the product's life cycle so that users would no longer have to activate the product. "
