xp home vs. xp media center edition

xp. u dont need mce. just bundled with softwares for capture cards and what not.. if u just want burning music, dvd, school, all u need is a dvd burner and xp.

Its a little more than a fancy menu. The Video, Music and Picture are nothing special, in fact I do not like those interfaces, but for TV... I have yet to see anything better. With dual ehomewonder TV tuner cards its countless times better than a DVR or TIVO box. I would spend the extra money again just for the TV features. The tv guide menu is great and its incredibly easy to search for record anything, anytime (the guide allows you to advance up to 2 weeks worth of TV programming)

Its WinXP Pro + the MCE application and unless you plan on watching TV via your computer there is no need to spend the money.

"which is better for music burning dvd burning, school work, im off at college so im on there internet"

never said he was gonna watch TV on his computer :P

Right, so that is why I said the only good thing about MCE is the TV... Must I spell everything out? I think its quite obvious that if I like only the TV Guide and Recording aspect of MCE that I feel someone who wants to burn music, do school work and surf the net should not get MCE... I will be sure to explicate in greater detail next time... :D

they are both the same price so i was wondering how similar they are. if they are the same and the only big difference is watching tv on it, would i be dumb to get it or would it just take up more room on my computer, when i could use that space for other things
