XP installation onto different PC

I have a reinstallation CD of Windows XP Home that came with an old system. Can I install this on a different system or do I have to buy a copy of XP? Thanks!
 
this is disputal. but i think as long as you only have it on one computer at a time it is ok
 
yes you can. i just talked to microsoft about that the other day.
i was kind of worried about using my dads old xp disc since his old computer crashed, but they said as long as it is on only 1 pc at a time, it's fine.
you may want to do the phone in regristration though, just in case there is a problem, you can explain it to them and they can make a new product key for you if they have to
 
altho you may have to call them about activating it but it is not big deal just say you only have it on that pc and there ok with it
