XP installation

Hello forum
I have got a wondowsXP pro cd which is supposed to be bootable. Presently i am running 2kPro on my computer. What i want to do is format my hard drive and then install XP. But my problem is i cannot get to the DOS prompt using the (supposedlly) bootable XP pro CD. What i am doing now is chnging the boot sequence so that it boots up from CD first. Then i choose to boot from the Cd but as soon as i do that it enters XP setup not giving me any prompt where i can format my disk. Could anyone guide me as to how i can get around this. Or is it really that the XP pro Cd is just an upgrade version and not a bootable one?

hi.
if you follow on the xp set up. it will ask you what you want t do. you need to select install windows (or something similar). after you have done this it will ask you if you want to format the hard drive.
