XP lag

I reformatted the HDD on my Lenovo Ideapad Y560P and dual booted Windows XP and Windows 7. The problem that I have is that Windows xp has an annoying lag. I ran a benchmark (3dmark 05) and got 30-90 FPS on GPU rendered graphics, but only 6-9 FPS on CPU rendered graphics. This is completely unacceptable for a 2nd generation Core i7 @ 2GHz. I can't even watch a flash video without it stuttering, but I can play Knights of the Old Republic with a tolerable amount of lag. The CPU usage is generally about 1-15%.
I have 2 theories:
1. The hardware is being used very inefficiently.
2. The hardware is being bottlenecked.

Windows XP Professional SP3 is aware of my quad core. I tried to find information on google, but I did not have much luck. Windows 7, on the other partition, is running perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely the problem you have is that the hardware in that laptop isn't designed to run on XP efficiently, possibly no drivers available. Usually anything that has windows 7 preinstalled will have a hard time running XP.

That is what I was worried about when I installed XP. I tried the Lenovo drivers for XP. The XP partition is primary for playing old games that won't work on Windows 7, so it is not really a huge problem if I can't fix it. I was hoping someone had the same problem and fixed it. Really the only problem I have is bad CPU lag and a little HDD lag.

You did install the chipset drivers correct? Also, have you tried using the compatibility mode on windows 7 to play the older games?

Yes, I did install the 2010 intel chipset driver. The games that I want to play are Star Wars games from the Windows 95/98 era, so it is very hard to get them running in my 64 bit Windows 7 Professional. Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 is the most useless thing that I have ever downloaded and used, so that doesn't work either.
