Xp OEM question

Im just bought this OEM version of XP and it has a disclaimer saying i need proof of purchase. What do i need it for? To activate windows?

I believe Newegg just says that so they can get away with selling it, because it sounds like you were suppose to only be able to buy it if you purchased hardware as well.

It will be fine though, you don't need it for activation, just the CD key it comes with.

Thats good. I was worried i may have to send in receipts to Microsoft or something
