ok, i am building yet another Daw <sold the last one to a friend> i need to know if windows Xp 32 will properly support/ utillize a quad core processorl, I have searched with no avail

Yes, XP Home and XP Pro will support a quad core, however only XP Pro will support 2 processors.

So i could run 2 quad cores if i wanted with xp pro? but would i even really see the full benefit with only being able to use 3 gigs of ram

I think what he meant was Quad meaning two dual = Quad.....I don't think theres any motherboard that will support two Quad..thats nuts..... So to answer your question Yes xp pro will support Both the AMD and Pent. Quad..:D

Yes you could, and you also could use the 64 bit version of XP Pro if you wanted more then 3GB of RAM.

They do make motherboards that will work with two quad cores, most are server boards however AMD has a dual-socket motherboard for their 4X4 lineup.
