I'm Going to be doing an upgrade on the family PC basically we're gonna upgade the RAM to 1.5 gig, CPU to 2700+ and a 250 GB SATA HDD. Since we're gettin' a new hard drive I wanna use my existing version of XP. Does Microsoft allow this or do I have to tell them im upgrading or what? I'm also gonna run Linux on the old hard drive (80 GB IDE).

Help appreciated.Thanks in advanced.

it might tell you that you have changed the hardware if it does ring the number and just tell them you had to replace the hdd.

From my original computer the only thing that remins unchanged is the cpu itself. I increased memory, replaced both hard drives and new video card all without any problems, and I do a clean install of windows at least 2x a year.
