XP Welcome Screen lost

Hi.
I have a XP Media Center edition. I've got two usernames on my PC and every time when I used to switch my PC on, it gave me two user accounts to choose from. Then I changed some settings with Media Center and since then I've not been able to get the welcome screen any more. When I log out of my user account, then I can choose between two user names, but when I power the PC up, it like stops for 5 seconds where I should see welcome screen and then goes straight into my account, even when I have it password protected.
So I have added and removed passwords, checked the registry from the right place if it is alright in there, also under user account both boxes are ticked...
Is there anything else I'd check?

Regards,

Kirret

have you disabled any services?

have you used window blinds or any modification program of this nature?

Welcome screen

Hi.
I think I havent disabled any services. I don't know what is window blind? It happened after I changed user log on settings with Media Center, but I cannot find these settings any more :)

Cheers

so when you boot up, your computer is logging you onto the password protected account without ever prompting you for the password?

Yes. It seems like there is a pause when I should see welcome screen and next think is that PC already applying user settinigs

so you never have to give a password? if you don't, confirm that the account the computer boots up on is password protected....

Yes, I set a password again and it goes straight to my account, without asking a password. If I log off now, then I can choose my username of the other one and I have to use a passowrd to get in.

Do you have Sony Sonic Stage 2 installed? Can be the culprit.

Other than that, you will probably have to check your registry keys.
If you are unfamiliar with it, download TweakUI here:
http://www.tweakxp.com/tweakutility/

It will most likely solve your problem. It should be under "Logon" and "Automatic Logon". I'm not sure if the software has been updated, if it has, then look for something similar. When you do, it is probably checked, just uncheck or undo it.

Hi.
Thanks for smithy23. He was right. There was a problem with logging on one specific account.

Thanks again, Kirret

So problem is solved :)
