which one should i get they are about same price
 
You'd be better off using the X850XT; It would be a little more future proof, if there's anything like that
 
yup. the x850xt totally pwns the 7600gt. however, the x850xt has a massive cooling solution that is apparently LOUD.
 
go with 7600GT.

x850xt uses an old technology, it will not be as good as 7600GT for future games
 
ok this is like the tenth post on this EXACT topic, and each one comes to similar conclusions so I'll put them out there: 1. the x850's stats are better and 2. the 7600 havs some 3.0 crap whereas the 850 has 2.0. There I just saved us all a lot of time
 
lol. I totally agree. The whole 6800GS vs. 7600GT vs. X850XT stuff. The X850XT is by far the best

The BFG 7600 GT OC hits £150 and clearly beats out the performance of the GeForce 6800 GS and Radeon X850XT cards in that price range.

I'm having trouble finding too many benchmarks comparing the two cards, but from what the 7600GT does to the 6800GS (in some cases, a good 25% higher framerate: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2717&p=13), I have no reason to doubt the above claim.

A couple of things to note, though. The 7600GT is cooler and quieter than the X850XT, and only requires a single slot. The X850 is reportedly a better overclocker, though.

ya my x850 came with a huge fan, and it makes alot of noise, especially in the biggining... still I can play max graphics on css
