1. That mobo is um... not that great
2. Got any details on the memory? :)
3. You shoudl consider upping to 160GB (shouldnt cost more than $10USD and thats already overcharged)
4. Make absolutely sure you're not getting a 5700LE

Or even ditch the soundcard and put that money for another 512MB or a 9800ish

Personally I would ditch the soundcard for the extra ram but I trying to match everything he chose to be equal or better with the idear that he knows what he want(could be a bad assumption). The price increase to the 9800 pro is more money then the soundcard.

edit: my price includes windows xp (I dont know if his does) If his does not then there room to upgrade to a 9800 pro while keeping it at ~1100 by removing windows xp from the price.

9600XT --> 9800Pro AIW = ~$100CAD difference here..... easily scoping in roughly the price of the soundcard

Good call

How bad is it? When I was checking some AMD64's Newegg a whole bunch of people said they had the motherboard.
Yeah a bunch of people ... including me. Its not bad -- for a VIA board. Its unfortunate ASUS decided to sit out on the nForce3Ultra tho

while that definally true if you building yourself.
I was going by cyberpower prices since it did not sound like he was building himself. At least on the american cyberpower site upgrading from a 9600XT to a 9800 pro cost $126. Upgrading from onboard sound to soundblaster audigy 2 zs cost $69. the videocard upgrade is nearly double.
