Yahoo and Outlook 2007

I'm about to lose my mind. I've configured Yahoo exactly to their instructions with my new Outlook 2007 and I can receive but not send e-mails. I have looked all over Google for suggestions and have come to the end of the road on this.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Do Yahoo allow you to use Outlook or Thunderbird? I know that Hotmail don't, so that might be your problem.
 
Yahoo does allow you to check your POP3 mail with Outlook. I use Outlook 2003 to do this and it works well. I am not familiar with 2007 but check and see if your uotgoing server requires authentication. Put a tick in the box and see if that cures your problem.
 
Thanks - I was also using Outlook 2003 until recently when I purchased a new laptop. 2007 does require authentication and I have that checked off on the configuration screen. The funny thing is that it appears that e-mails are being successfully sent but in a few cases, they never make it to their destination. This is making me crazy.
