Your thoughts on Replica software

I just bought a Seagate external drive and it has the Replica automatic software that continuously backs up files as they change. It looks like it saves versions too so if you accidently delete a file frome your main drive, it should still be there in a previous version.

I don't really care so much about backing up all the programs and Windows and such. I am wondering if it would be best just to disable the auto replicator and schedule my own backups of my data files weekly or every other day or something, and make it so they aren't compressed. That has always made me a little nervous to compress stuff. I feel safer to just have a real copy on a backup drive that I can actually read the file and not have to worry about software to decode it. What do you guys think?

I believe it's quite a neat feature. It's ultimately up to you. There's no harm in disabling auto replicator, and backing up yourself.
