OLD MACHINE
Processor AMD 3800
Graphics Card ATI RADEON X1600, 604 MHz / 411 MHz
1024mb ram
C51-MCP51 mb

Now check this out on the new

3893 bench
Amd 3400
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS, 518 MHz / 688 MHz
1024mb ram

did the gpu make that big of a difference?
 
no i sold the last one, and ran into this computer on a nice price, im upgrading the cpu tonight or tomorrow

It did for me! I upgraded from a vanilla 6800 to the 7900 GS and got a huge increase as well. I went from 2855 with the 6 series card to 4544 with the 7900. I'm running a Pentium D 930, 3.0Ghz.

I figured I'd get a decent boost but that's over 50%. I'll take it any day.:)
 
How do you do that benchmark thing? how can i know my score? sorry never was intersested about that but now im curious... lol :D
 
I wonder what your benchmark would be under vista....I am going to say lower..but thats a guess.
 
Thanks but is the 3dMark06 (basic edition - free) the one you mentioned??? what is it, why is it 580MB?? lol im confused, sorry... :eek: :confused:
