I really want to run a speed test on one of the servers without hitting the 1Gbps ethernet cap on my laptop.

Don't you have some shiny VM server on a 10gb interface to test off of? ;)

But dang, that upload is getting pretty close to the mathematical maximum transfer rate for 1500 byte packets for that interface..

Wow I have to see if they could be my service provider

I had Uverse and got a whopping 12mbps for around 50 a month. The ISP has little to do with your speeds and prices, to a point. Where you live will have the most effect. The market is changing fast though. Highest speed I could get was maybe 50mbps in my city of nearly half a million not even 200 miles away from where Beers got these speeds.

Screwing around with bandwidth policing on some new Meraki equipment :p
The F- amuses me.

Yowza. Agreed it's changing fast though, seems to be largely a result of Google Fiber pushing everything out.

It looks like AT&T's fiber is rolling out in a lot of the areas around here including Overland Park, maybe you'll get something in Lawrence by the time you graduate :p

Haha yes but seeing as how I'm still relatively new here, I don't want to go messing around with that ;) We have some 40Gbps VMWare servers, but I doubt I'd come anywhere close to that :p

Preface: The idiot ATT UVerse Contracted Out Customer Service People from India/China/What Have You, offered to upgrade my Internet speed from 24 to 50. Unfortunately after wasting about 8 hours of my life over 3 days and having my service interrupted before they managed to restore it back to the 24 I originally had, realized that their equipment in my area was not equipped to go 50 and it would be months before they upgrade it. So this is the result of my 24 Turbo ATT UVerse Service Internspe.jpg

This is the fastest that AT&T has in my area. Glad to see that I am seeing those speeds on Wifi. I get some dips as low as 30 but for $20 more it is a lot better than my 18mb/s.

Well, my $79.99 promotion ended this month for my Comcast 150/20 plan, and it now back up to $114.95/mo. Looks like it's time to threaten to cancel and get the promo price again.

I pay that much too for Internet 30MBPS and phone, soon i'll be paying more too, How do you get another promotion, you cancel and change name?
