what kinda psu are you using? and i highly doubt you can't oc that cpu to 3.0 ghz stable, cool and with default voltage

yeah thats a very old system cant really do anything with it best you can do is add some ram and save up for a whole new system

3ghz should be no problem for a 5600+ bump the bus speed and make sure your ram is running at 400 for ddr2 if anything use a divider

usually OCing will not do any damge to your processor these are the basic rules i follow 1. keep your cpu running at normal operating temperatures 2. keep your cpu voltage stock

most likely your ram is loose just pop open the case and make sure everything is correctly in place
