Hey computer forums I already have a prebuilt desktop but its not really doing me any good as far as gaming lately so Im looking for something more custom. My overall goal for this PC is to be able to play the current and future high end games on max settings while getting a good experience. Anyone out there able to throw together a good compatible build. $850 is the area I would like to stay around. Thanks in advance for the help.

Edit: Also is the AMD 6 core better than this i5? [url said:

Six-cores isn't needed for gaming as you will most likely not even use 2 of them.

That i5 is okay, but the Sandy Bridge line is more updated, check this one out:

Also if you plan to overclock go for the i5 with the (k) at the end of the name, which means that the multiplier is unlocked.

Well if I went with the intel i5 CPU vs the AMD that was linked earlier would I have to switch up the mobo? If so what would be the optimal one for compatibility and usage?

Im liking everything about this build so far except the PSU, it doesnt seem be modular, looks pretty sloppy with the wires like that, so i kinda wanna change that up. Also comparing these 3 gpus right now to see which one I wanna run with:

Other than that im set, any input on to which one of these guys get a the best bang for my buck? Thanks for all the help so far everyone

ill jut throw in my 2 cents and say that if your on a strict budget go down the ATI road for gfx card, for example the 6850 that was suggested in the post above.

Yep...its all compatible... :D :gun:

NIIIICE...It should all be here within the next 4 days :D. Just one last question tho not sure if this is the right place to be asking but since Im going to be recycling my current HDD how would I go about wiping windows and my current PCs drivers off of it and such before i put it in? Or can i just leave everything on it the way it is and then when I go to put my new OS disk in will it wipe everything like my old hardwares drivers for me during the install?

Either way it can be done but id recommend waiting as your probably going to use your old pc till it shows up. Just insert the windows disk at start up and it will find the old partition and you just have to press l to delete it.

I'd go ahead and get an up-to-date, faster/better hdd.

Altho you wouldn't get much for it, you could sell the Hp, or keep it for another use, like a server, or HTPC type use since it does have an x16 slot. Once you wipe that hdd, it becomes a bucket of bones.

Well my budget was pretty tight at the moment and I pretty much maxed it for now. A new HDD is something I can get within a few weeks Im in no rush though. Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it.
