Route desktop video output to laptop display?

I seem to be having trouble with the video card on my desktop computer. Is there a way to use the display on my laptop to see what's on my desktop?

there is software that will do it, but you would have to install it on the desktop first anyway.

This will only work if your laptop has a video input, which most do not, so you are most likely out of luck. Sorry.

Yes it will work, just use the LAN,

yeah, but unfortunately for the OP it requires being set up on the desktop before he can use it
