Graphic card combination

Hey, I just wanted to know that do the added graphics card work combinely? To be more clear if my computer has a built in card of 128 mb and then i add 256mb card to the addon slot then will it work as 256+128mb??? also as far as i know a motherboard has just one graphics card slot right:confused::confused:

no, what happens is the graphics card you installed will take over and disable the intergrated graphics so you will only have the 256mb card
 
No. The only time two or more graphics cards can combine their powers and summon captain plan-.. The only time is when you have a SLI or CF motherboard with their namesake cards.

Edit: all our posts combine to summon Captain Planet! Woo!....

Anyways, @ the original question. The onboard graphics needs to be disabled once if you want to add another graphics card. I believe the newest AMD chipset allows you to use a version of crossfire with a graphics card and onboard, but I'm not sure about the details of it.
 
The reason I said to google it was because if you did just that, you would have your answer. Guess I've always been one to search for my own answer before running to others for immediate help.

back to OP... videocards will disable the onboard video, with the exception of the newer AMD Hybrid Crossfire enabled boards, which combines the cards (i'm assuming amd/ati only) with whatever integrated graphics are there
 
If anyone ever wonders why people dont come here for advice anymore i think its pretty clear...

i know there are mods somewhere if only they would ban ppl for this cr@p.

isnt there a hybrid sli with the 750a or 780a motherboards? i'm not sure though i think its used to save power
