Can't boot with x 4 ram modules

Hi guys.

Could you please offer some advice on my RAM problem as im kinda lost on what to try next :unsure:

The problem is my motherboard has 4 ram slots, I have 4 x 1024 modules I want to put in them (675mhz/5400).

Heres the problem, the computer will ONLY boot if I have just the 2 sticks in (dosnt matter which 2 of the 4 im using) & it dosnt matter which 2 of the 4 slots on the motherboard im using as ive tested each slot.

Additional infomation:

1) The mobo is ConRoe1333-DVI/H http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.a...source=googleps

2)The sticks of ram I have are 5400/675mhz corsair

Memory Type DDR2 SDRAM
Memory Speed 675 MHz
Memory Package DIMM
Designation PC2-5400
Pin Configuration 240

3)Ive tested each stick of ram individually & they work fine.

4)Ive tested each slot individually & they work fine aswell.


5)Im using vista 32 (h/premium).

Any help would be so greatfully recieved, thankyou in advance.

Sorry if ive posted in the wrong section as I wasnt sure if this was a mobo or ram problem.
 
You might have to up the voltage to the memory to get it too boot. Find out what the voltage requirements are for the memory and change it in the bios when you can boot using the 2 sticks and then add the other 2 after and see if you can boot then.

Hi mate, thanks for your reply.

Ive had a good look round the bios & cant find an option to alter the voltage, I downloaded the ConRoe1333-DVI/H manual aswell & couldnt find anything in there either :(

One thing I did notice is the manual & website says my mobo takes:

Supported RAM SpeedPC2-4300, PC2-5300
RAM FeaturesTwo DDR channels

I currently have all pc2-5400 (4 x 1024 modules), could this be causing the problem? the reason I bought the other 2 PC2-5400 modules was because thats what was in my system when I bought it.
 
It will just downclock your current memory to those speeds. my guess is that you need to up the voltage. I'm not sure where the setting is in the bios but i'm sure its there.
 
My new build did the same thing. It took me two sets of RAM and a lot of time but I figured it out. Go into the BIOS and set the RAM and Front Side Bus speed to sync. My motherboard manual says the "Memory Standard" is 800 Mhz but it would not start with it set at that. Every time I tried to boot up it would freeze in the BIOS post, I could hit reset and it would boot. When I set it to sync it down clocked my RAM to 667 Mhz and I have never had a problem yet. My motherboard runs at 1333 Mhz FSB. I tried everything before I figured it out (add voltage to RAM, every FSB RAM ratio in the BIOS, tried every stick in every slot) Kinda sucks I paid $150 dollars for a motherboard that I can only get to run 667 Mhz RAM...but everything is stable now and have not had any problems since that. Maybe you can give it a try and see what happens:confused:

P.S. ASUS said it was a chipset problem...Wanted me to RMA it but I live in Germany and it would cost almost as much to ship it as the motherboard costs...decided to just keep it.
