Looking towards the future, I suspect that Quads would be utilize in game so Quads would be better off if you don't want to upgrade very soon.

Well, if you were building a computer for Crysis. I think you'd have to buy a Skulltrail Motherboard and two E8400's and crank them up to 4Ghz.

But, I'd say, if you're building a computer now, Go Quad. There's hardly any different between them and Dual and in a couple of years (Or Months, knowing technology!), things will be aimed a 4 Cores.

Quad Core. I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHZ. Its great!

a qx9650@3ghz is going to beat an e8400@3ghz,

I Agree!

If you can afford a quality Quad, go for it.

Yes, i say that to everyone for their builds, and they are the same price now anyway.

Quads are the fututre

So does a dual core setup require more CPU power to be utilized properly?

not really sure what you mean....

A lot of people have that and i want one, but have to save :(

whoops, i meant dual CARD like SLI or crossfire. does a second card add power on its own, or does it need a better CPU, perhaps to send it more data to process.

in theory i suppose it might take a little more.

but i have no idea if it really does. probably not much if it did.

Until Intel releases their 80 core chip that is as big as a 15" LCD Monitor.

haha yeah they will keep upgrading technology so it isnt. i mean if they put one together now it might be around that size.. probably smaller actually.

Yeah, by the time we have an 80 core chip we will be down to crazy low tech, like 5nm or so, so they will prolly be the same size as our chips these days, unless by then we have a crazy 1gig of L2 cache or whatnot:p
