Removing heat sink

I'm trying to get the heat sink off of my ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video card, but its held down by these little pins, anybody know of how to remove the heat sink from this card, or cards similar to it?

First of all are you planning to add a different vpu cooler? With the MSI version of the same card the need for removing and risking breaking the factory retaining pins isn't there since the temp are good. There are 3rd party coolers that will fit by following instructions provided with those.

Would need to know what brand and model of the card to tell.

tknick90 already specified the make and model there. ATI Radeon HD2600XT

Well since ATI 2600XT are made by HIS-Diamond-Sapphire-VisionTek-MSI-Asus are more companies and different models with different heatsink. No he didnt!

ATI is a brand name by itself. The other brands simply use ATI chips.

tknick90 is that the 256 or 512mb model you have there?

What nimrod doesnt know that, you give some of the noobest replies I have ever saw. Just because he said ATI 2600XT doesnt mean its a ATI brand card.

Reread Post #1 where the exact make and model other then memory size is seen right there. Perhaps knick90 should provide a link like the one here that shows ATI/AMD sells cards with the ATI brand name on it. http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonhd2600/radeonhd2600xt/index.html

I'm simply waiting for tknick90 to respond.

On mid range cards you would expect the pins are simply the snapon retainers they use for seeing the fan on permanent while a higher end model expected for gaming and high end builds would see ocing and allow for 3rd party coolers as well as fan replacement. The retaining method would allow for that.
