XP start up error

Im running on XP home edition but recently, i cant start up my com. when i turn the com on, it will load until the windows XP logo with the blue bar running beneath. There would be a flash of a blue screen, most likely BSOD, then it would restart. It would load up the page where i can choose to start in normal mode of safe mode. Either way, the same error would happen. Is there anyway that i can solve this problem without reformatting? I am very sure that it is not a hardware problem as the hard disk with XP installed on was booted on a new com.

Try a repair of windows first, maybe there's something that is messed up

I think I know what the problem could be.
There are only few BSoD-s that don't hold but disappear immediately rebooting the computer.

Please boot in safe mode and go to Run->msconfig on Startup tab see if you can see a blank line or a line that says Dump rep-k.
