Format vista(labtop) without cd?

Is that possible? And if so, how?
I have a recovery cd for xp, and my other question is, if its possible to install xp on my labtop with vista sytem, using the recovery cd?

yes i know that, but how? When i insert the cd, i get some options, but cant see where i can format, can someone plz write step by step, how to format the computer and the reinstall vista?

What specific options do you have when the Recovery DVD loads up? I've never had to work with a Vista Recovery DVD before (so I'm not familiar with the exact wording/layout of different manufactures' options), but if it's anything like a normal version, you should see the options to (do a New) Install or Repair your existing one. You could try clicking on Repair, then doing a System Restore, but it sounds like you want to do a completely new Install. In that case, click Install and follow the on-screen instructions - formatting will be a part of that process.

The problem is that ive downloaded a recovery cd see this link:

But it doesnt seem to work, when i try to install vista, do you know why? I think i get en error message that some install file is missing...
