I want to connect my ATT Blackberry 8310 to my laptop, and get an internet signal. I've googled this, and found a How-To, but its from 2005.

I have the Desktop Manager program and the USB cable, any ideas?

Also, on a side note, can I get a better web browser for my Blackberry?

Thanks.

yes it is possable. you just have to go into settings>connection> and wireless modem it should be called. then in there you will be given a option as to which connection type. select usb and hit start. then you have to set it up on your computer. i dont know the exact way but it is possable and i have done it before.

Dude, Opera mini hands down is the best! I love it on my 8310!

Also be careful if you dont have a tethering plan through att they can charge you a bundle in charges for using it as a modem without a tethering plan.

lol i just got your pm...

I use msn messenger for IM program (they have a version for bb) and i think that yahoo has one too...

i dont think they can find out unless you use a ton of bandwith. i have used it before without them charging me

Hmm, would that USB Wifi thing that they offer be an option? Can I get I do a test run on the USB wifi for a week or so, before I decide to buy it?

Thanks.

Hmmm.. Think ATT stores are open on July 4th? :P

I'd like to do some online gaming, but if my phone isn't capable of reaching those speeds, thats fine. I would though like to check the forum and stuff.

Should I just do the tether method? Or is it a bit risky? Or is there another program that turns my phone into a hotspot.

Thanks.

I doubt your blackberry is going to get speeds worthy of enjoyable online gaming, its good for browsing but not nearly fast enough for gaming.

I would say it isnt risky unless your going to be downloading a hugely suspicious amount of bandwidth.
