Matching GPU and PSU?

Hey, one quick question.

Building a new PC, and have just had some late night aspirations. Want to add a few new things for a decent gaming rig. I was wondering if someone could match a PSU wattage to the following cards.

9600GT 512MB GDDR3 650MHZ Clock

9800GTX 512MB GDDR3 675MHZ Clock (2200mhz memory, 1688 shader)

Firstly, if anyone else has any other suggestions that are preferrably no more than £150 (purchase in the UK only), I would be happy to hear them. The max I am willing to pay for a GPU is £200 (give or take a fiver). I have a Core 2 Duo 3.16Ghz processor, and 3gb 800Mhz DDR2 RAM. 1333Mhz is too expensive at £240 for no visible performance increase! Must play Crysis with a breeze and be ready for future games (am running Crysis on a Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz, Mobility Radeon X1700 atm - occasional loss of 2 or 3 frames, but generally good - 2gb ram on an Asus V1JP-AK028E. Never expected Crysis from it, but what a surprise!)

I have been told that 600W is probably good, but I don't entirely trust the source. I want them running stable. They also have 2 other SATA drives, and 2 SATA DVD drives, so this needs to be accomodated. I would also prefer something with a blue LED fan if they have one, if not, red would also be OK. I have the Antec 900 gaming case, and the PSU is mounted at the rear on the bottom of the case, so the fan will be exposed, and in full view of the side window.

Finally, I have heard that Asus motherboards are the way to go. Is this just personal choice, or is there some kind of logic there too, and if there is, which manufacturer would you guys recommend?

Thanks for any and all help anyone can provide.

For a motherboard i would recommend Giga-Byte. :)
To check how much power you need by the type of video card check: http://www.computerforum.com/90110-power-recommendations-video-card.html
Personally though i would recommend getting the OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Retail
Just so you have wiggle room if you get a different card more Hard Drives or more Optical Drives.
Instead of the card that you listed i would also suggest getting the Ati HD4850. The HD4850 is the best card out to date for the price. ;)

I hope that helps. :)

if you have an atx case and motherboard you wont have problems finding a psu,if you
have a btx case and motherboard like me your screwed.a very good psu,i would
recomend a corsair hx1000,its certified by nvidia, has the latest power connections for the newer graphics cards and will work with the older ones also.check it out on corsairs web site, pricey but worth it

Thanks for the replies, but I just thought it important to mention that both the HD4850 and HD4870 cards have a slower clock speed than the nVidia ones. Maybe this is a typing error?

I have decided to go for a 600W PSU then, as I have an OCZ Stealth XStream one in my basket. According to the page you posted, this should be fine. It's also fairly cheap. I just need to check it has the right connections. . . I'll post the build up when I'm done.

Thanks for all the help given here.

their clockspeeds are irrelevant. the 4850 IS the best card for your budget, and NO other card for the price will come within range of beating it.
