normally, if you shutting down your desktop will appear " save your setting and windows is shutting down"
but i want change it by a picture.
and i won't use software for do it
can you help me?

Try StarDock. I'm pretty sure that you can change the logon screen.
But I'm unsure about the log off screen.

I've use a program similar, and yes it does work, and for the log off screen as well!

that would not be a wise move. Software is easier
