xp service pack 3

i did, it was slow, but aparently it is only like that on AMD CPUs...

But all it is, is updates put together.

I put it on a virtual machine and it was extremely slow.

I've had all the essential upgrades since SP2, so I have no need to install it.

i have it on two machines with zero issues, id be interested to hear something in more detail then "it ran slow", that is if you folks felt like you wanted to elaborate. This way maybe we could all keep a better eye out for what to watch for.

well, i installed it, rebooted my PC and then it was really slow, lagging on me, wasn't opening programs quick enough than what is was on SP2. so i uninstalled it.

I know there was a thread about this and someone posted a link explaining that it was only slow on AMD CPUs......

Pretty much the same here. I'm running an Athlon 64 X2 3800+, so that may be one reason. The other reason it may have run slow on the virtual machine was because it was a virtual machine installed onto an ATA drive. (I keep my VM HDD's on a spare ATA HDD. They're really just for shats and gaggles along with some testing). It simply ran and booted slower than it did before.

Well I have tried it for 3 days on my Intel based machine.Seems to be running as smooth as SP2.No complications yet.But then again I kept my Service pack 2 up to date and always selected what I wanted installed VS having auto load.

"I think that SP3 has something SP2 doesnt have."

it allows install without a product key and has some corporate network thing that ties in with vista and server 2008 , but nothing else new. It was not meant to be a feature release, but a rollup.

Xp Sp3 is basically a fully patched Xp sp2. Handy for slipstreaming though.

No problems on my pc (intel based)
