What's up guys?

I got my report card and i did pretty well so my mom said i can buy something for around (preferably under) 150$. This is USD.i will buy from newegg and i will post the links. Which do you guys think is the best card. IDK much about gfx cards and all that so i need your help. I am unbiased to which company i use, but i was leaning toward the 8800 gt or the 3870.

Thanks guys!

here are the links:

Yea, sorry, i'm impatient

Out of those, the 8800GT ;)

Thanks dude

I would personally get the 8800gt, of the 3 its the best performing card overall and evga has the best support if anything ever goes wrong with it.

EDIT: Kornowski beat me to it, i was multitasking while typing this>_>

Edit2: For $15 more than the 8800gt after mir u can get an 8800gts:

would the gts make a big difference. And if gta 4 comes out for PC, do you think it will be able to play it?

BTW i have a 500W cooler master psu, this is sufficient right?

The GTS wouldn't make a huge difference, But I think it'd be worth it! It has a dual slot cooler and will OC higher.

Yeah, You'll be able to play GTA4 ;)

Your PSU should be enough, Yeah. Do you have the specs on it?

nah get a 4850.
according to all the benchmarks ive seen it performs better then the 8800gt and is cheaper (in australia anyway).

the 4850 is about $20-30 more than the 8800gt in the US.
get the 4850 if you can
if not then the 8800gt is the best of the 3

i have no idea how accurate the benchmarks are, but yeah with a price difference like that id get the 4850.

Gts actually makes a pretty good difference, the 8800gt has 112 stream processors, the 8800gts has 128 stream processors, therefore it has ~15% more processing power in the shaders vs the 8800gt. And is clocked higher and has the dual slot cooler.

yeah like everyones been saying get the 4850, and then u could just chip in difference. looking on newegg you would only have to pay an extra $40 on top of what your mum gives you.

EDIT: Oh and the $40 isnt including the mail-in rebate ;)

these benchmarks are from a few different sites and in all of them the 4850 out performs the 8800gt, in some cases by quite a lot.

Obviusly its going to outperform it because its newer technology, but like the guys have said if the 4850 isnt that much more then definatly go for that.

i dont think you would be dissapointed with either the 8800GT,GTS though.

Like everyone said, get the Radeon 4850. After rebates, the card would be almost withing your budget, you need to raise hardly any money. It's the best value card out there right now, plus I'm a little bit of an AMD/ATI fanboy, and I'm sure they could really use the revenue...
