Best Anti Virus For MAC

Macs don't need virus software, they never get any!

You'll be fine, 2 friends of mine have never had a problem.

But the newer the OS, the better security wise.

Wrong... Macs can get viruses...

I run no security software on mine but, I have a hardware firewall and I am not a susceptible as a normal user.

If you're looking for compatibility on an older system, try this:

Keep it scanned, mainly you're worried about spyware/adware. Most of the time on a Mac, if you've been hit by a 'good' virus you know it and there are direct fixes for that, depending on the situation.

Macs can easily get a virus if you are running boot camp or any software runnign windows xp or vista or even virtual pc's on it... I have seen several things but none really have worked well.. Where i used to work they just went with none and limited internet access via a hardware firewall..

No..no...no...

That would be handled by Anti-virus on the VM in XP. And, a virus that infected your boot camp partition, 99.9% of the time will not come back on the OS X partition. *Why?* Because, OS X's file system is HFS+ and Windows is NTFS.
 
Hi dannaswolcott, it's not true that Macs don't get infected by viruses, they surely can. I think this is just a rumour because everyone seem to be questioning it. One of my friends got infected in fact. So, you'd better keep a constant lookout for viruses on your Mac.
 
No OS is bullet proof. However OS X is far more secure than Windows by design. There are NO known viruses in the wild for OS X. Don't run your normal user as an admin account, and don't install software from an unknown source. Don't use P2P and pirated software.

I do the same thing on Windows and I NEVER get anything on my Windows box.

I wouldn't worry too much about Panther as no one develops for it anymore and it isn't fully supported that much anymore.
