cod4 problem

I recently tried to delete my cod4 key binds by going into dev and typing /unbind all. Well, only my dev console worked then, so I had to reset the keys to default. Now, everytime I try to play a game, the game usually loads up, but after the loading bar reaches the full limit, the display flickers between the image of the map and black. It then gives me an error saying directx has encoutered an unrecoverable error, and iw3mp.exe stops woking.

edit: now, whenever i start cod, it flickers, and it just gave me an error that windows has been changed to vista basic colors..
edit: I am now upgrading my display drivers..

Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything but have you tried reinstalling the game?

Or maybe you could try restoring back to a point before deleting the key binds.

Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything but did you know that reinstalling cod4 makes your rank reset?

Does the problem start after you load a profile? If it does try having a read through your config file which is located at:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\PROFILE NAME\config.CFG

.Cfg's will open fine with notepad, and btw, ^ that file holds all your binds, usually towards the bottom, might be easier next time to use it to just edit them with that.

No I didnt....no need to get cocky

EDIT: Actually if your talking about it resets in normal campaign then yes I did know that but you can just make a copy of the saved game files. If your talking about online then no i didnt know it resets.

He's using windows vista, so unless he allways runs the game with admin rights the profile wont be saved in the COD4 folder.

Sir travis try to reinstall DirectX, and if ur using vista, go too ur control panel, go to hardware and sound, sound, press the record tab, show inactive drivers, activate the driver called CD-sound blaster or CD-sound. After that it should work.

The problem was fixed, I installed new graphics. And no, I would not install the game again, because I don't want to spend another 72 hours trying to get back to level 55.
thanks for the help :D
