Will Windows XP Pro SP3 work on any new build?

Around Christmas last year I built the computer in my sig. At first, I installed Vista and didn't care too much for it and so I reverted back and installed Windows XP (SP2). However, Windows XP ran SO slow (it was a FRESH installation). Even after all of the drivers and everything had been installed, it was so painfully slow and I re-installed Vista. I hate to say it, but it was actually nice to have Vista after that...

I'm doing a build for a friend, and he wants Windows XP SP3. How do I know that I'm not going to run into the same thing that I did previously with my own personal build? Will Windows XP SP3 work and run on any new build?

Thanks.

What is the CPU???? AMD??? If so, don't get it because they are slow on AMD CPUs!

A fresh install will be fine.

I'm pretty sure that XP runs just as fine on an Intel CPU as it does on an AMD, but I'm building it with an Intel anyway so it doesn't really matter. I just need it to run smooth and quickly. WIll it?

I see no reason to post the specs really it should run fine and fast i have Sp3 on 2 pc's. But what i can tell you is your not the first person ive heard complain about going from Vista "back" to xp and having issues...

I guess I'll just have to go ahead and order SP3 and see how it goes. If for some reason it has speed issues then I guess I'll have to stick with Vista. But there's no reason for it to slow down, correct? I don't know why my system is so stupid and had to be like that. Oh well.

I don't know. I just find that hard to believe. Unless there's some solid evidence I'm just going to have to disregard that. There's no reason for that.
