broadband modem

i'm trying to connect my other laptop to my broadband modem. but wehn i pluged in the cable, it showed nothing . tried insert the modem cd, but it always says the cable is not pluged in even tho i checked several times. what is wrong?

have you tried a different cable and a different port????

theres no other ports and/or cable

Have you checked that the ethernet port is enabled; both in your computers bios and in "Network Connections"? Is it installed correctly? Does it show in Network Connections?

If you can publish some details on your computer / lappy in question - i.e brand and model, then i'll happily find the correct driver for ya.

the vista version is weird. ive checked the cable its enabled, .....

my laptop is toshiba satellite U200.
