Hello, guys I have a problem with my monitor. My 17" Giant CRT monitor is behaving strange this few months.
First problem: I noticed a vertical line flowing from the bottom up to the top of the screen.
Second problem: The screen seems to be blurred this few weeks. The words and letters have shadows resulting to a blurry screen.

Ive tried to use my older CPU to that monitor but it still gives me the same result. It means that it has nothing to do with the video card Im using right now. Correct?

Any ideas guys? kindly help pls. tnx.

my AVR is beside the monitor. My friend told me to place it away from the monitor and I did it. Unfortunately, still an oozing vertical line. Does this a sign of a monitor going to retire?

Well in my experience with CRT's , I would say yes it's time to think about getting a new monitor. While CRT's seem to be a preferred choice amongst many gamers, I would start to consider TFT instead . There's still plenty out there that support D SUB connection and converters are available if need be ;)

Oh no, I dont have budget for a new one... I guess I will have to return it to the store where I bought it. I bought it at around November 2007 and it has a 1 year warranty. If I will return it to the store, would they accept my reason for having the oozing vertical line in the screen? Is that reason acceptable? Pardon me, but Im not good at persuading people. I hope they wont kick my ass out of the store and tell me that the monitor is still ok. -_-

I would phone them first and save yourself a possible wasted journey!!

But as long as the issue is with the monitor and they can replicate the fault in the shop, then I can't see how they can refuse to replace it;)
