Hey guys i have a desktop (dell 8400) that im not using, i need to get the pictures off of it. My new set-up is listed below. How can i get the pictures on it? Would there be a plug in the computer that i can simply plug the HD into or no?

Do you own an external hard drive? or a large Flash drive?

also how much content are we talking here? like 10gbs or like 100+ gbs?

first thing, your computer sucks, and good luck with selling it

Im not good with this photo stuff. But I think you need to clear your internal HDD

What the hell are you talking about?? im not selling anything!! I am not talking shit on your system so don't talk shit on mine! Maybe JUST Maybe some people dont have unlimited money to spend on a computer! and i bet you dont have unlimited money either! stay the hell out of my thread if your not going to help me like i am asking for. If you dont know anything about pictures, there is no reason in posting!!

um i have no idea where that came from but anyways....

1. The dell doesnt suck...its prolly better then 80% of the PC's people own, to be honest i wish that was my "backup" pc ha
2. If you have a Flash drive or jump drive whatever you like to call it, just use that to swap them over (assuming its not a ton of stuff) Thats why i asked how many gigs we were talking total.
3. or You can put the Old HDD into the new computer and copy the files over to the new HDD.

I was trying to avoid 3 just cause its involves more work...

I was referring to post #4 the jerk was putting me down for what i could afford.

The mobo is out along with a couple other problems on the dell. I loved that computer but near the end it was giving me lots of problems. The only thing i can do is put it in my computer right? Is there a connection for another HD on my computer? (specs below)

Here's what your new board has(according to google)
2 x Ultra DMA 133/100/66/33
4 x Serial ATA 3 Gb/s

So yes... you CAN plug up your old hard drive to your new tower and extract whatever data your want(in your case pictures)
Depending on Hard drive type you will either need ATA/IDE

or

SATA

Just remember to set the jumper on the back of the old HDD(if ATA) to slave or else you will get conflict at BOOT ;)

yeah, hopefully its SATA, if not you can still prolly find an IDE that it'll plug into. If it asks you to reformat your hard drive, its gonna erase everything, so watch out for that.

It won't ask to erase the HDD!!! why should it? it's being plugged up as a slave , not being formatted for use ;)

lol, but if he doesnt switch the jumpers...lol, all im saying is look out, haha
BUT again..... SATA doesn't need jumpers changed as there's only one drive per cable ;)

think before you click bud ;)
